Chapter Checklist

  1. The current Chapter President should send a list of the new Chapter officers for the upcoming year to Whitney Cherry at whitney@wvscpa.orgby March 1st of each year.

  2. The Chapter President’s Monthly Report should be completed following each Chapter meeting and a copy emailed to Whitney Cherry at whitney@wvscpa.org. If a Chapter meeting is not held during a month, the Chapter President should send an email to Whitney stating that no meeting was held for that month. There should either be a report sent or an email sent for every month. Information from the Chapter Monthly Reports is presented at each of the WVSCPA board meetings that are held in June, August/September, November, January, and April/May of each year.

  3. Chapter Presidents will need to complete and submit the Annual Chapter Reportfor the current year ended May 31st to Whitney at whitney@wvscpa.orgby June 1st each year. This information is included in the Annual Report provided to members at the WVSCPA Annual Membership Meeting on Friday of the Annual Meeting each year. Most Chapters have completed their activities for the year by early May, so this should not pose a problem.  If the Chapter is competing for the Witschey Award, this information will be needed by the Awards committee very early in June, too.

  4. The Chapter President (or Treasurer at the President’s designation) will need to complete and submit the Annual Chapter Financial Statement for the current year ended May 31st to Whitney at whitney@wvscpa.orgby June 10th each year. The Chapters’ Annual Financial Statements are provided to the WVSCPA Board of Directors at their June meeting.

  5. Chapters must follow the requirements regarding nominations for WVSCPA awards to compete for the Witschey award each year.

  6. There are detailed requirements for Offering Chapter Meetings and CPE in the Chapter Guidelines.  All CPE MUST be approved in advance by the CEO of the WVSCPA and all CPE certificates MUST be issued by the WVSCPA office.

  7. Effective with the 2020-2021 fiscal year, the WVSCPA will automatically assign new Society members to the appropriate Chapter.  Chapter membership is voluntary, so new WVSCPA members may opt out of belonging to a Chapter and they must notify the WVSCPA office to opt out of Chapter membership.  Chapters will no longer have to handle anything regarding Chapter membership and dues.  Chapter rosters will be maintained by the WVSCPA office.

  8. Any proposed amendments to a Chapter’s bylaws must be submitted to the WVSCPA Board of Directors for prior approval.
