Committees

Inform members, in public practice & industry, of recent developments in national and international A&A standards. Work with governmental entities, other organizations, and members regarding governmental A&A matters.

Inform the membership of Society’s awards, seek nominations, and coordinate the selection and presentation of these awards.

Address the needs of CPAs in banking, industry and government, and encourage their active participation in the Society. Develop collaborative opportunities with other professional and industry groups.

Board of Directors currently serving:

Stimulate the interest of college students and faculty in the accounting profession. Help employers find employees and interns through an annual recruiting fair. Promote college accounting student awards and recognition.  Offer programs in public schools, colleges & universities to educate students about career options in the accounting profession.

Provide opportunities to exchange practice management ideas. Determine the needs of small firms and sole practitioners, and design Society programs/services to meet these needs, such as the Roundtables in various locations.

Provide current federal and state tax information to members. Promote cooperation between the Society and the IRS, and the WV Department of Tax & Revenue.  Be a liaison with state, local, and federal regulators.  Communicate tax legislation issues to the membership.

Determine the needs/interests of the younger segment of the Society and design programs and events to accomplish this.  Volunteers for this committee should be age 35 years old or younger.
